How to make a QR code business card that leads to the right place.

Fixed contact details or an editable card page?

A static contact QR stores a vCard: your name, phone, email and other fields inside the code itself. It is useful when you simply want to offer contact details. Those details are fixed once the QR is printed. If your email changes, generating a new code does not change the one on old cards.

A hosted-card URL QR stores the address of your card page. The printed code still contains a fixed address, but you can edit the content at that address. Visitors need a connection to open the hosted page. Keep the card available and preserve its link while printed copies remain in circulation.

The choice is about what happens after the scan. A vCard presents contact information; a hosted card gives the recipient a place to explore your work and choose a next step.

Build the contact QR or use your card’s link

For fixed contact details, open the free QR code generator and choose Contact card. Enter your name, role, company, phone, email and website. Review the spelling, then select Download PNG, or Download SVG if your design tool supports vector files. The generator also offers Website link and Plain text modes.

For an eBiz card, create and save your digital card first. Open Share and use its QR code or copy the card link. You can also paste that full link into the generator’s Website link mode to download a QR image. Use the specific card address, not the eBiz homepage or an editor URL that requires your account.

Make the printed code easy to scan

Place the QR on a plain, light background with dark modules. Keep its square proportions and avoid covering it with a logo, decorative border or text. Add a short label such as “View my card” or “Save my contact details” so people know what the scan offers.

There is no single print size that guarantees every scan. Dense codes, small printing, glare and low contrast all make reading harder. Give the code generous space in your layout and judge it from a printed proof, not an enlarged screen preview. Our card examples can help you keep the surrounding design simple.

Print one before you print hundreds

1. Print the card at its actual intended size.
2. Scan it on more than one phone, including iPhone and Android if available.
3. Check the destination while signed out of your eBiz account.
4. For a contact QR, review the imported fields before saving. For a link QR, try the page’s contact options, gallery and video.
5. Check under ordinary lighting and at a natural scanning distance.

If scanning is unreliable, increase the printed code size, restore the white margin and improve contrast before adding more decoration. Keep a readable website address or contact method on the card as another way to reach you.
